Representatives of the AGROFERT Foundation handed over a symbolic cheque of CZK 700,000 to the Vesna Children's Hospital in Jánské Lázně. The funds were used to purchase two exoskeletons that will enable patients with severed spinal cords to stand on their own feet again and move upright without a wheelchair. This is not the first donation made; in the past, the Foundation has supported the Hospital with almost a quarter of a million Czech crowns.
"The AGROFERT Foundation has been supporting the Vesna Children's Hospital since 2021, when the management approached us with a request for a contribution to equip the therapy and rehabilitation rooms. We were happy to oblige. But exoskeletons, I dare say, are somewhat of a miracle! After all, seeing a child who should never have stood on their feet taking their first steps brings tears to your eyes," says Zuzana Tornikidis, Director of the AGROFERT Foundation.
It is not just the Foundation that cooperates with the VESNA Children's Hospital, but the entire AGROFERT Group. As part of this cooperation with the Children's Hospital, AGROFERT organises two events a year for children, their families and caregivers. AGROFERT cooperates on these events with the Pasíčka Rescue Station, which AGROFERT has also supported long term.
"Our cooperation with the Vesna Children's Hospital began in 2021. At the first Children's Day, the first cheque from the AGROFERT Foundation was handed over. This year, we have already organised the 4th year of this fun volunteer day and we are already preparing for the next joint event - St. Nicholas Day in Vesna. Together with our colleagues from companies across the AGROFERT Group and with the Pasíčka Rescue Station, we are creating a rich programme for the children in the Hospital," adds Daniel Rubeš, AGROFERT's HR Director.
