Uniper will support SKW in its decarbonisation processes and in return can benefit from the know-how of Germany's largest ammonia producer in the areas of production, storage and distribution.
The use of Uniper's import terminal in Wilhelmshaven will facilitate SKW Piesteritz's future imports of green ammonia, while SKW Piesteritz will provide Uniper with capacity in other European ports through its parent company AGROFERT. The cooperation also includes the necessary distribution logistics and expansion of production and conversion of ammonia to hydrogen.
Working with Uniper allows us to further expand our commitment to environmentally friendly solutions that meet the diverse requirements of German industry. At a time when the world is facing the challenges of sustainable industrial growth, this partnership is a very important stepping stone." Uniper has been helping us decarbonise ammonia production for a long time," says Petr Cingr, CEO of SKW Piesteritz.
Dr. Reiner Haseloff, Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, said: "The aim of the provincial government is to provide the economy with good framework conditions for a sustainable transformation. The chemical industry in the Saxony-Anhalt chemical triangle must have the opportunity to achieve ambitious climate protection targets. With the state's hydrogen strategy, we are giving our companies the perspective they need. The agreement between Uniper and SKW Piesteritz is an example of how this works."
