SKW Piesteritz is Investing Heavily in Environmental Protection

29. 7. 2025

Last year, SKW Piesteritz invested €12 million in environmental protection, with total expenditures in this area reaching €30 million. The largest portion was allocated to strategic climate projects.

In line with its strategic direction, total investments were significantly higher than in 2023. The largest share—more than €7 million—was dedicated to strategic climate protection projects. Since 2005, the company has invested in over 1,000 projects. In total, approximately €379 million has been spent on environmental protection since 2005.

SKW Piesteritz plans to invest around €400 million by 2030 as part of the “Green Deal.” The first projects are already being completed, including the replacement of two CO₂ pre-compressors, the construction of a third ammonia cooling tank, and the construction of an industrial power plant with H₂-ready technology. Once the new power plant is operational, SKW Piesteritz's annual greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by at least 7,000 tons of CO₂.

“SKW Piesteritz is contributing to the achievement of national and European climate targets,” emphasizes CEO Carsten Franzke.
